I like the higher quality coffees. We buy whole bean and grind it every morning. I drink it strong and black. I try to limit myself to half of a 12 cup pot each morning, but sometimes I drink more. I do get a little jittery if I drink more than half a pot. This morning Just Ron wasn't home, and I drank all but one cup out of the whole pot and I'm a little overcaffeinated. I don't usually do the flavored coffees, but if I have to drink restaurant coffee I put cream and sugar in.

What are your reasons for posting here?
by sonnyboy ini'm curious as to what drives some people to post at certain boards.. for me, i first came here over a year ago thinking this was a pro-jw site, ready to jump on the dubs.
lol.
little did i know.... i posted here exclusively for a while, but then found that the repetitive topics became tedious.

I remember learning in school that the proper way to address mail to a married woman was Mrs. John Doe. However, in business settings it is no longer appropriate to even ask if a woman is married, so all written references should be Ms. Jane Doe.

33 %
by Theredeemer inso, my mother in law who is still active went out in service with the group that had the co visit and came back with some very interesting news.
first off, she knows that we are fading and is ok with it and has some doubts herself.
anyhow, she said that the co went off track during the meeting before service and mentioned how we are now allowed to receive up to 33% of blood in a transfusion.

ME too Cobalt! The congregation I used to attend very nearly had no-blood fatality. The woman was just a study, but she refused blood after being in a very serious car crash. She was in such bad shape that her non-JW family decided to remove life support. She survived, which was good, but she's now a baptized JW and has since divorced her non-JW husband and remarried to a dub.

Lore - I agree with your point that perhaps people are more likely to walk out since assistance programs are available. However, unlike the old days, women are now fully able to work and support themselves in any type of job they are willing to do. Unlike one of my great aunts, who was left a widow at 19 and had no options at the time except prostitution until she could find another spouse. There weren't a lot of options for a poor, uneducated woman from a rural area in 1910. It certainly wasn't a level playing field - the man didn't need the woman the same way that the woman needed the man.
I think men now don't feel the same obligation to support their kids - they know that the mom can get a job, or get welfare - although there have always been men who didn't feel any obligation to support their kids.

I know a couple of people who had been disfellowshipped and reinstated. One was reinstated years ago, before I ever became a dub. He appears to be a true believer. He was a ministerial servant, whole family is active and enthusiastic. They left the local hall several years ago to learn a foreign language and attend that congregation now. He said he was DFd for immorality in his late teens/early 20s.
The other person was DFd while we were active dubs. I have no idea what he did to get the boot. There was no indication of immoral behavior, the only thing I can think of is that the local elders thought he shouldn't be pursuing a disability pension. He was severely diabetic and had enormous trouble trying to work. In the end, he got reinstated and then promptly quit attending meetings although he and his wife and son attended faithfully while he was DFd. I would say that none of them is really a true believer.

Marriage isn't really the issue, it's the fact that adults get tired of the same old same old and want to ditch their responsibilities. Whether the couple was married or not, if they split up after having kids together, the results are the same. The same amount of income cannot support two separate households at the same level as just one household. It's unlikely that either mom or dad will get a raise just for getting divorced or splitting up, so at best both parties face a reduced standard of living. That's tolerable from a societal point of view when the family in question is wealthy - running two households on a million dollars a year is doable. However, the majority of people don't fall into that category. Low and middle income families can end up receiving government assistance, at least temporarily, after a split.
I don't care whether people are married or not, I care whether they prioritize raising their children over everything else in their lives.

What is your daily commute, and how long does it take you

My commute varies depending on the cases I'm working on. This week, Monday was 13 miles/20 minutes, Tuesday was 48 miles/1 hour, Wednesday was 30 seconds to walk downstairs, Thursday was 55 miles/1.25 hours, and today was another 30 second trip downstairs. Next week will mostly be 15 miles/20 minutes. I don't mind anything less than 45 minutes, but I really don't like longer drives. There is virtually no public transportation where I live.
